Choose the right words
Use kind, gracious, encouraging words – Prov. 15:1
Be led by the Spirit, not the flesh
Beware of inflammatory speech
Speak truthfully – Prov. 12:22a
Do not exaggerate
Don’t gossip
Do not reveal others’ personal business
Do not spread strife or slander – Prov. 16:28
Do not speak of others’ sin or shortcomings – Prov. 17:9
Do not repeat or listen to gossip – Prov. 26:22
Choose friends who use godly speech – Prov. 20:19
Use gracious, edifying words
Choose words that reduce anger – Prov. 15:1
Choose healing words – Prov. 12:18, Prov. 16:24
Choose pleasant words – Prov. 16:21
Develop practices to improve godly speech

Train your conscience
Continue to learn God’s Word
Listen to good Bible teaching
Evaluate your heart condition
Evaluate our obedience concerning godly speech

Pray for spiritual help to use words that are pleasing to God – Ps. 19:14
